Topa is on track when it comes to sustainability

Topa has taken another important step towards achieving its ambition to reduce its Company Carbon Footprint (CCF). In 2023, we succeeded in significantly reducing our CO₂ emissions once again, and we made a financial climate contribution to cover our remaining emissions.

CCF 2023 results: More than just numbers

In 2023, we once again implemented focused measures within our internal business operations, which contributed to achieving our environmental objectives. Through adjustments to our heating system, switching to electric or hybrid cars and moving to green energy, for example, we have reduced our total CO₂ emissions by no less than 38%. From 1660 tonnes in 2020 to 1025 tonnes last year. This reduction is well above the Dutch goal set in the Paris Climate Agreement, which requires a reduction of 11%. Our figure for waste unfortunately rose slightly last year. This is a result of a change to our internal classification. Overall, we succeeded in achieving another great saving last year.

We now want to take responsibility for our emissions. That’s why Topa made a financial climate contribution through ClimatePartner once again in 2023. The chosen project was ‘Renewable Energy Asia’. This project invests in renewable energy such as wind and solar energy, which helps to reduce worldwide CO₂ emissions. Thanks to this contribution, Topa is able to describe itself as a ‘company with financial climate contribution’ again this year.

But we are still aiming for even less

Although we are proud of the results achieved, we recognise that there is always room for improvement. In 2024, we will continue to implement our initiatives to further reduce CO₂ emissions. Our priorities for 2024 remain reducing our energy consumption, improving the sustainability of our vehicle fleet and continuing to reduce our waste stream.
